In 1990, Steve Austin founded MDM Commercial in Jacksonville, Fla. MDM specializes in providing the highest quality products at the most competitive prices to hotels and motels across the U.S., the Caribbean and South America. MDM provides the lodging industry with a myriad of products, including TVs, PTAC units, mini refrigerators, guestroom telephones, TV and audio mounting accessories, ice machines, commercial irons, coffee makers, hair dryers, radios, mirrors and toasters, just to name a few. The company also provides education systems, content, RF distribution, digital satellite systems, installation, service contracts and consulting. In addition to providing products for the lodging industry, MDM also caters to healthcare and education segments. Austin says he prides himself on MDM’s quick response for quotes or information and their 24-hour customer service.

Prior to founding MDM, Austin worked for another distributor that sold equipment to hotels. In the late 1980s, that company got out of the hotel business, which prompted Austin to start MDM. More than 15 years later, Austin is still working in the lodging industry because of the great people he works with and the dynamic and exciting marketplace. Today, business is booming with satellite offices in Atlanta; San Antonio, Texas; Minneapolis; Philadelphia; and Los Angeles.
