| ILCO and SAFLOK Safes
Safes have certainly become a standard guestroom amenity. As they do with electronic locks, the majority of properties recognize the benefits of installing safes. To this end, both the SAFLOK and ILCO brands offer a complete line of in-room safes that feature impeccable construction, security, and safety. Today’s safes offer all the conveniences not available with safety deposit boxes. One of the most significant advantages of using an in-room safe is the audit trail feature that logs use-history. In fact digital audit capabilities are of greatest value in documenting all attempted and successful unlocking of the safe. This capability is particularly valuable in the event an article is lost.

SAFLOK and ILCO brand safes are available in 36 standard color combinations and five different sizes. By offering a large variety of color combinations, they are able to offer hoteliers a larger safe design palette. Each safe model can accommodate a standard laptop computer. The safes can be mounted in an armoire, on a shelf inside a closet, or on an optional floor mount pedestal that is securely affixed to the floor of the closet. Another option is ILCO’s flush-mounted wall safe that can be installed in a closet wall or other inconspicuous locations. Additionally, they offer various keying options such as keypads or credit cards swipes. Some safes also come with optional mechanical key override.
While design is a key aspect, SAFLOK and ILCO brands regard evolving technology for safes a more important attribute.

For example, SAFLOK has also introduced communication technology for safes. Working off a proprietary platform, the closet-mounted safes have a built-in capability that allows it to wirelessly/remotely communicate with the property management system each time a safe is in use. A radio frequency module is housed in the keypad, and a message is sent to the property management system when the code to open the safe is detected by the unit. Communication is transmitted on a frequency that is exclusively licensed by SAFLOK from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The guest is billed only for the days when the module detects that the safe code is in use.
