MICHAEL MONCHINO RECEIVES AMERICA’S BEST INNS & SUITES PRESIDENT’S AWARD
Atlanta — America’s Best Franchising Inc., based in Atlanta, has awarded Michael W. Monchino, principal member of Herrin, Illinois-based Monchino Management LLC, the America’s Best Inns & Suites President’s Award for 2006. Monchino Management operates America’s Best Inns & Suites properties in Lafayette and Lake Charles, La., and Montgomery, Ala. America’s Best Franchising Inc. awards the America’s Best Inns & Suites President’s Award annually to the owner or operator who best represents the brand. Monchino is a 25-year veteran in the hospitality industry and has worked with the America’s Best brand since it began in the 1980s.
CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS CAMBRIA SUITES BRAND TEAM Silver Springs, Md. — Choice Hotels International Inc., based in Silver Springs, has expanded the brand management and the brand design and construction teams for its Cambria Suites brand. Phil Beilke, formerly with Hilton Hotels and Embassy Suites, has been named the senior director of brand management for Cambria Suites. Cathy Poinsett, a senior director of marketing communications at Choice, has been appointed to senior director of brand management for Cambria Suites. Donald Griner, AIA, a senior director of product development at Choice, has been appointed to senior director of Cambria Suites design and construction.
WYNDHAM HOTELS TO OFFER GUESTS REPLACEMENTS FOR BANNED CARRY-ON ITEMS Parsippany, N.J. — Wyndham Hotels & Resorts™, based in Parsippany, has responded to increased airport security measures that ban liquid items from carry-on luggage by providing guests with a program called We Remember What You Forgot. The program will offer guests 17 items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bottled water, contact lens solution, hair spray and other personal care products to meet their needs.
MICROTEL INN & SUITES OPENS IN RINCON, GEORGIA Rincon, Ga. — Southern Hospitality Group LLC, based in Springfield, Ga., has opened a new Microtel Inn & Suites hotel at 6132 Highway 21 South in Rincon. The newly constructed, three-story, 59-room hotel is located 11 miles from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and 16 miles from Historic Savannah. Microtel Inn & Suites is a US Franchise System Inc. brand.
GUESTHOUSE INTERNATIONAL INNS, HOTELS & SUITES ADDS TWO HOTELS TO ITS PORTFOLIO Hendersonville, Tenn. — GuestHouse International® Inns, Hotels & Suites, based in Hendersonville, has opened two new franchise locations. The new GuestHouse International Inn & Suites hotel in Monroe, Wash., has 48-room, 18-suites and features a full range of amenities for its guests. The new GuestHouse International Hotel in St. Petersburg, Fla., has 128 rooms and one suite. Newport Hospitality Group owns this hotel.
CANDLEWOOD SUITES OPENS LOCATION IN GREAT LINCOLN, NEBRASKA Lincoln, Neb. — Atlanta-based InterContinental Hotels Group has opened its newest Candlewood Suites extended-stay hotel in Lincoln. The Candlewood Suites-Lincoln is owned by Pioneer Hotels LLC and managed by HMA Hotels LLC. The hotel is located at 4100 Pioneer Woods Dr.
BEST WESTERN EXPANDS PORTFOLIO, ADDS SIX HOTELS Phoenix — Best Western, headquartered in Phoenix, has added six hotels to its brand. The hotels were opened in Du Quoin, Ill.; Lindale, Texas; Lemoore, Calif.; Grove City, Pa.; Leesville, La.; and Omaha, Neb.
The brand-new 56-room and four-suite hotel in Du Quoin is the Best Western Fairgrounds Inn located at 1520 S. Washington. James Zeller owns this hotel.
The 56-room hotel in Lindale is the Best Western Lindale Inn located at 3501 South Main St. Satish Patel owns this hotel.
The 96-room and four-suite hotel in Lemoore is the Best Western Executive Inn Lemoore located at 820 E. Bush St. Jay Patel owns this hotel.
The 55-room and five-suite hotel in Grove City is the Best Western Grove City Inn located at 1924 Leesburg Grove City Rd. Naren Patel owns this hotel.
The 50-room hotel in Leesville is the Best Western Stagecoach Inn located at Highway 171 at 1200 N. 6th St. The 112-room and 10-suite hotel in Omaha is the Best Western Seville Plaza Hotel located off of the Interstate 480/Highway 75 interchange at 3001 Chicago St. Gamble Hospitality owns this recently renovated hotel.
